Privacy notice
How EPN uses your information
Effective and last updated: 14 September 2026
Who is responsible
Estate Planning Navigator, operated by Baljit Rihal, is the controller for personal information collected directly through this website. Privacy questions can be submitted through the contact form.
What is collected
- Your first name and email address when you join an EPN marketing or purchase list
- Your first name and email address if you ask to be told when snapshot email delivery becomes available
- Your broad subject interest and the page or form used
- The consent wording version, date and unsubscribe status
- Name, email, topic and message when you contact EPN
- Essential security and server information generated by the hosting service
- Anonymous page and button events, broad campaign labels and the page used, without account details or a visitor profile
EPN does not ask the email database to hold estate values, account numbers, addresses, health details, family disputes or information about another person's capacity.
Free checklist and marketing choice
You can access the free checklist without agreeing to marketing. If the optional marketing box is left unticked, the form processes your details to provide the download page but does not add them to the EPN marketing database.
Estate snapshot requests
The calculator runs in your browser. EPN does not receive or store the financial figures or family answers you enter. If you ask to be told when snapshot email delivery becomes available, EPN stores your first name, email address and the fact that you made that request. This is separate from marketing consent. Requests without marketing consent are not used for guide offers and are reviewed for deletion after 90 days if delivery has not become available.
Purposes and lawful bases
- Marketing emails and launch alerts: consent
- Snapshot email-delivery requests: steps taken at your request
- Contact and correction requests: legitimate interests in responding and maintaining accurate material
- Security, fraud prevention and legal compliance: legitimate interests and legal obligation where applicable
- Anonymous site measurement: legitimate interests in understanding which pages, guides and campaigns are useful
- Future purchases: steps at your request and performance of a contract, once checkout is introduced
Sharing and processors
Information is used only by EPN and service providers needed to host the website, store the consent database and, once connected, send emails or process purchases. Providers must process information under appropriate terms. EPN does not sell the email list.
Retention
Active marketing records are kept until you unsubscribe or the list is closed. A limited suppression record may be retained to make sure an unsubscribe request is respected. Contact messages are normally reviewed for deletion after 12 months unless they are needed for a continuing matter or legal requirement.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability, and you may withdraw consent at any time. Use the unsubscribe page for marketing or the contact form for another request.
You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Cookies
EPN uses no advertising or behavioural-analytics cookies. It records a small set of first-party events such as a page view, guide click or download. These records do not contain your name, email, IP address, account number, estate value or full browser details. If you arrive through a labelled campaign, sanitised source, medium and campaign values are kept for the browser tab and attached to those anonymous events. Strictly necessary hosting or sign-in technology may operate for security and the private owner area.
Changes
Material changes will be dated here. If a change affects how consented marketing information is used, a fresh choice will be requested where required.
